The Crested Butte Nordic Council (CBNC) serves residents of and visitors to Gunnison County throughout the winter months, offering cross-country skiing, ice skating, snowshoeing, and guided tours. Our mission is to provide individuals of all ages and abilities the opportunity to learn, enjoy and improve in the sports of cross-country (Nordic) skiing and snowshoeing.
Our objectives are 1) to acquire access and professionally groom a trail system for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the Crested Butte area; 2) to provide quality rental equipment, professional instruction and guiding services, serving Gunnison County residents and visitors; and 3) to support and develop amateur athletes for regional and national competition in the sport of Nordic skiing, and to conduct such competition.
The CBNC was formally organized in 1987. As a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization with IRS designation, we are governed by a volunteer Board of Directors elected by the membership at our annual meeting each November. We employ 20-25 staff (seasonally) and utilize innumerable volunteers to provide a variety of services to all residents and visitors interested in Nordic skiing, ice skating and snowshoeing.
