27th Annual Alley Loop Nordic Marathon Presented by GRIGGS ORTHOPEDICS
February 2, 2013
ON-LINE REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED. YOU MUST REGISTER IN PERSON ON FRIDAY FEB 1 FROM 3:00 – 7:00 PM AT THE VISITOR’S CENTER IN CRESTED BUTTE (AT THE 4 WAY). THERE IS NO DAY OF REGISTRATION!
Part of the American Ski Marathon Series and an American Birkebeiner qualifying race, the Alley Loop is also Crested Butte’s largest costume party and biggest Nordic event of the year. The Alley Loop’s unique course starts and finishes in the heart of downtown Crested Butte at Second and Elk. In between it meanders through snow-lined alleys, behind false-fronted stores and restaurants, over footbridges and alongside residences. The adult races, longer than 5k, head out to the expertly groomed Nordic trails on the pristine outskirts of Crested Butte. The 5k has a NEW route which stays in town and no longer tackles that big hill! In addition to the fun races for all ages and abilities, the event also features a Friday night pub-ski crawl, Saturday Taste of the Alley and New Belgium Beer Garden, and an awards ceremony with great prizes and a raffle.

Friday Night Pub-Ski
Friday Night pub-ski crawl is a pub crawl on skis. To take advantage of Elk Ave being shut down and full of snow, participants can ski between the great bars participating. If you do the pub-ski and the Alley Loop the you’ll be entered into a special raffle! The participating bars include: West End, The Baccanale, The Eldo, The Brick, Maxwells, The Talk, The Last Steep, The Princess, Wooden Nickel, and Mexicalli Grill. The route will be on Elk between Second and Third and will be pre-assigned. Do this in a group of 4 or do it on your own. You will play a game, do something nutty or answer a trivia question at 6 of the 10 bars to earn points. The person or group with the highest points will win a special prize! Pick up your game card when you pick up your race bib on Friday night at the Visitor’s Center from 3:00 – 5:00 PM. Then meet in front of the Post Office at 5:30PM on Friday. The pub-ski ends at 7:30 PM. If you are doing the Alley Loop, registration is $5. If just doing the pub-ski, it’s $10. Day of registration (Friday) is $15 entry. Please plan to pick up your game card at the registration at the Visitor’s Center at the 4 way from 3:00 – 5:00 PM.
